The Playhouse Apprentice Program
The Playhouse Apprentice Program, supported by the TD Ready Commitment, provides paid training, mentorship and networking opportunities to 5 emerging artists who identify as Indigenous, Black or a Person of Colour (IBPOC) and/or Women who are building careers as Directors, Choreographers, Musical Directors, and Designers during the 2026 season. Participants will gain valuable experience and build connections with established artists, opening doors to future opportunities.

Description of Activities:

- Onboarding and networking sessions led by Playhouse Artistic Associate Stephanie Graham outlining and setting goals for the program as well as a networking opportunity allowing all the apprentices to meet with one another and establish connections.
- Shadowing and supporting their mentor’s work throughout the 4-week rehearsal process. Including attending rehearsals and production meetings and providing notes on the production during previews.
- A minimum of three 1-on-1 meetings with their mentor; one prior to rehearsals to co-develop a work plan approved by the mentor and discuss goals. One meeting at the half-way point, and a final meeting after preview performances to evaluate progress.
- Show program credit as “Playhouse Apprentice Choreographer” or “Playhouse Apprentice Set Designer,” etc.
- Travel and accommodations are provided to participants to bring them to Gananoque for the duration of their contract.
- Weekly wage of $1,000.00 per week.
