Grace, an Indigenous woman adopted by a white family, is asked by her birth sister to return to the reserve for their mother’s funeral. Afraid of opening old wounds, Grace must find a place where the culture of her past can feed the truth of her present. She struggles to connect her two lives in this heartwarming and hilarious story about coming home.

Playwright Drew Hayden Taylor will join us for a special talk back on Thursday, August 24, following the evening performance of Only Drunks and Children Tell The Truth.
An Ojibway from the Curve Lake First Nations north of Peterborough, Drew Hayden Taylor is an artist of many disciplines; he is a award-winning playwright, author, columnist, film maker and lecturer. He has received more than 70 productions of his work for the theatre. Vanessa McCourt is Kaienkehaka from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. She has worked in the fields of Indigenous Child Welfare and Education for the past 15 years. Currently, Vanessa works at the Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre at Queen’s University supporting Indigenous students. She graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology and Health Studies and from the University of Toronto with a Masters of Education in Social Justice in Education
