Session 1: The Responsibility of Storytelling
Who bears the responsibility of storytelling in theatre? An exploration with actor/director/producer Julia Nish-Lapidus, from the various perspectives of theatrical storytelling. Examining the approach in well-known work, like Shakespeare, and how it is applied to new and old plays.

Session 2: Designing Women of the Fur Trade: An In-Conversation Event with Jay Havens
A conversation with Haudenosaunee designer Jay Havens about their process in designing this season’s production of Women of the Fur Trade. Jay will talk about their practice of creating designs for Indigenous productions, and bringing Indigenous spaces and worlds to life in the theater.

Join Chris Murphy for an interactive kitchen party-style session, sharing folk/Celtic songs, tunes, and sea shanties that he has gathered from his extensive travels throughout Ireland and Newfoundland!

Session 4: From Page to Performance: New Play Development in Canada
A conversation about the journey from the idea, to the first draft, from a workshop, to opening night. Learn about gatekeepers, the funding grind, and what it means to get your work on stage in this country. With guest speakers: Keith Barker, and Colin Rivers. Moderated by Dr. Thea Fitz-James.

Session 5: Who Gets To Be a Critic?
What makes theatre “good”? What is the line between taste and interpretation? Who gets to be, or become, a critic? An introduction to theatre criticism and its evolving forms and functions with Apprentice Director, Stephanie Fung.
