WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO KNOW

A FUbndraiser for the Thousand Islands Playhouse The annual Playhouse trip to the Stratford Festival of Canada departs from Brockville, Gananoque, & Kingston on October 15th, 2010. Enjoy a delicious box lunch on board while you leaf through an information package handed out by your escorts.

Your first stop is in the town of St. Jacobs, famous for its beautiful artisan studios – pottery, weaving, metal glass works and more, all within easy walking distance!

You’ll check into your room at the charming Arden Park Hotel in Stratford in time for dinner at the The Church Restaurant – always a gastronomic and visual treat – and then it’s off to the theatre to enjoy Kiss Me, Kate. With such hits as “So In Love” and “Too Darn Hot,” Cole Porter’s classic from the golden age of musical theatre is a fun-filled way to “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”

Saturday morning begins with a breakfast buffet at the Inn followed by time on your own to browse Stratford’s charming downtown and enjoy lunch at one of the many eateries.

Then it’s off to a matinee performance of Evita, starring Chilina Kennedy*. Blending the personal with the political, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s landmark of the modern musical theatre paints a dazzling portrait of a woman who helped shape history.

After dinner at the hotel, you’ll enjoy a performance of the J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play Peter Pan, featuring Michael Therriault as Peter Pan, and  Michael McManus and Séan Cullen as Hook and Smee. This play (not the musical you may have seen already) is a spectacular journey into the world of childhood that will capture the hearts and imaginations of all ages.

Sunday starts with breakfast and more time to enjoy the area with your companions. Brunch on the way home is a veritable feast at The Waterlot in New Hamburg, which offers a staggering array of delicious buffet items to tempt you!     (* Ms. Kennedy had her first professional job at the Playhouse!
