History from a New Perspective

In 2016, the Netflix series The Crown featured an episode about the future Queen Elizabeth II’s 1952 trip to Kenya. The show focused on the British perspective and lacked representation of African people. This funny and political new play gives a voice to the Kenyan women who served the monarch, alternating between the historic visit in 1952 and a modern day TV show retelling the story.

Produced in association with Western Canada Theatre.

  • Written by Marcia Johnson
  • Directed by Leah Simone-Bowen
