THE ARROGANT
WORMS
As one of Canada's most popular musical comedy groups, the Worms have
been providing tuneful and silly escapism all over North America and
Australia since 1991. Their boisterous and irreverent stage presence,
hilarious lyrics, rapier wit, and tight harmonies have granted them a
place in Canadian culture. “They have clearly established themselves as
Canada's Clowned Princes of Humour, Purveyors of the Absurd and
Ambassadors of Fun.” ” (Festival Distribution)
MOLLY JOHNSON
Molly Johnson has earned her reputation as one of Canada's greatest
voices. She has rocked audiences in nightclubs and bars from coast to
coast as a pop artist and seduced the patrons of salons and lounges with
her luscious interpretations of jazz and blues standards. She made
history at the Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival, becoming the first
Canadian female vocalist in the festival's 17-year history to sell out a
show on the mainstage. “[Her] voice evokes the aura of dark smoky night
clubs of a bygone era. Like the woman behind it, it is a voice filled
with humour, joy, surprise, sassiness, and of course love.” ( Rob
Bowman)
JOEL PLASKETT
Armed with an easy manner and ample good old East Coast charm, renowned
Halifax singer/songwriter Joel Plaskett (The Joel Plaskett Emergency)
will treat fans to an acoustic set to remember. Joel received two East
Coast Music Awards in 2006 and his song “Nowhere With You” was voted by
CBC listeners as the year’s top single. “The inherent quality of
Plaskett's writing not only translates well to acoustic renditions, but
shines in a more minimalist setting.... a phenomenal performance.”

THE MARC
ATKINSON TRIO
The music of this virtuosic group is melodically captivating,
sensually charged and technically awe-inspiring. “Atkinson is a
versatile guitarist. [He] boasts outstanding technique and a fluent,
graceful style, with a voice that draws on the influences of the greats
of jazz, blues, and gypsy music reminiscent of Django Reinhardt and the
Hot Club era. This is happy music that will leave you feeling uplifted
and rejuvenated.” (Cindy McLeod, Jazz Elements)
