Theatre is an expensive art form to produce. Did you know that it costs anywhere between $80,000 to $300,000 to produce a new professional play? That theatre lights can cost up to $20,000 each? or that the cost of most theatre sets ranges from $4,000 to $12,000? To build the productions audiences have been enjoying for almost 30 years, the Thousand Islands Playhouse employs professional theatre artists who make their living from creating theatre.

Government funding accounts for a small percentage of the Playhouse’s income. The remainder is raised through box office receipts, corporate partnerships and individual donations.

The Playhouse needs your help to secure the future of professional theatre in this region. Through contributions to different campaigns, donors support our continued ability to produce quality theatre with the highest production values and using the skills of the country’s most talented artists. Donation campaigns also contribute to many other elements of the Playhouse’s artistic mandate – the educational outreach provided by the Young Company tour; developing and nurturing the work of emerging playwrights, theatre technicians and performers; the expansion and maintenance of our facilities, inside and out, to make sure theatregoers continue to enjoy our productions in gracious comfort…the list goes on and on.

Once you have chosen to make a contribution to the Playhouse, your donation will play a vital role in the growth and development of a company of which we can all be proud.
